For over a decade, I worked in New York’s Michelin-starred restaurants, where I learned that great service begins with understanding what matters to the person in front of you.
When I found my way into real estate, the conversations felt remarkably familiar. The decisions were different, but the questions underneath them were the same: Where are we in life? Where do we want to go next?
That’s when I understood: I hadn’t changed careers — I was just at a different table.
Eventually, the questions I’d spent years asking others became my own. For my daughter and me, the answer was Boulder, where life moves a little slower, more of it happens outside, and ordinary days feel extraordinary.
Finding my own answer changed the way I help others find theirs.
Every deal has its own logic.
They began the search torn between Long Island City and Forest Hills, unsure which one actually fit the life they were building. Meanwhile, that life kept moving: a promotion, a proposal, and by the time we reached the closing table, a wedding was already being planned.
Over two years, they moved in and out of the market. I kept pace, picking the search back up whenever they were ready. When we found the right home in Forest Hills, there was very little left to question.
Knowing when to move matters. So does knowing when to wait.
In Sunnyside, the right apartment doesn’t come along often, especially a top-floor home with open views of Manhattan.
We moved quickly and put together an offer that stood out. Higher offers followed, but ours was the one they accepted. The sellers told us why: “She deserves this apartment.”
